berkeley integra was appointed by Collins Construction Limited to carry out the specialist dry wall and ceiling works on London’s newest theme park by County Hall.
The first Shrek Far Far Away Adventure will open in summer 2015 on London’s South Bank, close to the London Eye, London Sea Life Aquarium and London Dungeon. The 20,000sq ft attraction based on the stories of the popular green ogre, will use a mixture of actors, puppets and animation.
Up to 25 fixers were working on the 15 week project, which included the supply and installation of acoustic timber walls made from up of 8 layers of board and resilient bars. With ceilings and timber floors prepared ready for application of the themed graphics.
berkeley integra overcame the technical challenges of constructing new rooms within existing rooms without fixing into the existing fabric of the building. On such a large site, which includes two new hotels, solutions to the logistical of movement materials were important.
The most interesting element of the project was the construction of the Bus ride, made up of a 40m girth by 6m high egg elliptical enclosure with a large flat roof with 10m long joists.
